Happy Father's Day!
Today was church. The worship service here is a little different than that of our own. There were about 100 people packed into the small first floor of the center. We sang Thai songs (including Come Thou Fount and I Know Not Why God’s Wondrous Grace). We prayed together in Thai and in English. We also recited litanies. These litanies were on the screen in Thai, no English. Underneath the Thai writing, though, there were the English equivalents. For example: Ong-Nam-Ying-Yai-Seren-…Don’t ask what that means though. Pat preached a sermon on Nehemiah 8-9. It was really cool to see the passion with which they worshiped. After church Ben led an adult Sunday school and we shared photos of our fundraisers. Also, Taylor and Lee shared their testimonies with the people. After church we began setting up for a “block party” to happen later in the church. They invited their neighbors to come for an evening of food, music, and games. We set up a bunch of carnival games for the kids and food outside for adults. It was a lot of fun to hang out with the kids and talk, or try to talk, with the adults. If you get a chance, check out some of the pictures on the site, they’ll help to explain to you exactly what happened today. Happy Fathers Day!
